Suspect arrested in connection with Springfield armed robbery

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A man was arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a tanning salon in Springfield.

The day after Christmas, Springfield Police responded to Darker Image, a tanning salon, for an armed robbery. The victim reported that the suspect was a 6' tall white male. He reportedly entered the business with a knife and threatened the woman working the register, according to police. He demanded that she give him money, and pushed her when she went to press the "hold-up alarm" to alert police of the incident.

The suspect allegedly left with $200 from the register and got away in a green Honda Odyssey. Three men who were in a nearby business heard the victim scream and chased after the suspect, who swerved toward one of the men, but missed him. The men were able to get a partial plate number.

After an investigation, police found that Todd Trainor, 41, robbed the salon. Wednesday morning at 11:25 a.m., police arrested Trainor in a basement bedroom on Jerilis Drive in Springfield. Trainor was scheduled to be arraigned in Springfield District Court Wednesday.
