HUDSON, N.H. – A New Hampshire man is behind bars following a carjacking and a string of hit-and-runs.

It started in Manchester Tuesday morning, when police say 22-year-old Anthony Plourde stole a running vehicle the owner had been had been warming up.

Police say Plourde later crashed the car into a nearby business before running to a Walgreens parking lot where he forced a woman and her daughter out of their car.

Police say while driving that Ford Escape, Plourde was involved in at least two more hit-and-run crashes before coming to a crashing halt on a snowbank in Hudson.

“When [police] arrived on scene of the second accident, witnesses were pointing out a man that was fleeing from the car that caused the accident,” Hudson Police Lt. Michael Gosselin said. “At that point, officers caught up to the man, and he surrendered. And while they were talking to him and dealing with him, they received information on a [Be On the Look-out alert] on him of possible carjackings out of Manchester and Derry.”

Plourde is facing several charges, including felony stealing a motor vehicle, reckless conduct, simple assault, and driving while intoxicated.

He refused bail and will be arraigned in Hillsborough County Superior Court in Nashua Wednesday afternoon.
