• Sub-zero wind chill Friday; Warmup, some snow Saturday

From FOX 25 meteorologist Sarah Wroblewski:

It's another cold one out there. Winds out of the west continue to provide sub-zero wind chills.

High pressure will keep dry and bright conditions in place into the afternoon. Temperatures will peak in the teens, which is well below normal. Wind chills will continue to provide feels like conditions either side of 0 this afternoon.

A cold front will head our way towards the weekend. Clouds will increase tonight as temperatures fall back into the single digits to teens along the coast. Sub-zero wind chills can be expected once again.

It will be mostly cloudy waking up Saturday morning. Winds out of the southwest ahead of this front may transport some moisture from the ocean to southeastern areas creating a few spotty showers. However, most areas should stay dry. These southwest winds will be quite breezy, gusting to 40 mph at times. They will help transport much milder air than we've seen recently, so expect temperatures to limb into the upper-20s to the north and west to mid-30s closer to Boston and southeast by the afternoon. As this cold front gets closer, scattered light snow showers will develop in western areas and work eastward through the afternoon and evening. We may even see a few rain showers mix in along the coast. This front moves through quick, producing light amounts of snow from a coating across eastern areas to up to a couple of inches across north central MA into the Berkshires. This still could be just enough to slicken up the roads and create some difficult driving conditions at times.

We clear out Saturday night as temps tumble again into the single digits and teens and patchy black ice may form on untreated surfaces. A return to the cold is expected on Sunday as highs will only be in the low to mid-20s. It will feel colder in a breezy northwest wind. We'll see mainly dry conditions under partly sunny skies. Unfortunately the dry weather won't last too long, as our next weather system may produce some light snow Sunday night into Monday as fast moving clipper system passes.
