Stoughton woman sentenced in drunken driving fatality

DEDHAM (AP) - A 32-year-old Stoughton woman has been sentenced to two years in jail after pleading guilty to killing a woman while driving drunk without a license last year.

Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey said Auricelli Braga pleaded guilty Wednesday to motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence and driving without a license. Another six months will be suspended during five years' supervised probation. Morrissey said Braga also faces federal immigration deportation proceedings after she completes her jail term.

Prosecutors said Braga's blood alcohol was .12 percent, one and a half times the legal limit, when she hit 64-year-old Sara Escudero of Canton.

Morrissey said Braga was driving home early on the morning of June 24 after being at a Boston night club and visiting a friend.

Nine members of Escudero's family were in court for the sentencing.
