Steven Spader drops appeal

Updated:

(MyFoxBoston.com) – He murdered a New Hampshire woman in cold blood and tried to kill her young daughter. Now the case is closed in the Mont Vernon, N.H., murder.

The Union Leader reports that New Hampshire's Supreme Court granted Steven Spader's motion not to appeal a 2010 conviction. He said at a hearing last month that he did not want to get by on a technicality.

Spader was only 17 years old when he orchestrated a home invasion in Mont Vernon, killing Kimberly Cates and viciously attacking her then 11-year-old daughter.

The Supreme Court recently ruled that anyone under the age of 21 could not be automatically sentenced to life without parole.

A judge re-sentenced Spader to life without parole last month after he turned 21.
