State's unofficial first baby of 2014 born in Lowell

LOWELL, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- They're the very newest residents of Massachusetts: babies born on New Year's Day.

One baby, born at Lowell General Hospital at 12:01 a.m. on Jan. 1, has the unofficial title of the state's first baby of 2014. Dante Joseph Tancredi came into the world weighing 8 lbs., 4 oz., and is 20 inches long. His due date was New Year's Eve, and he came just seconds after the day passed.

Dante is the second child of parents Jennifer and Carl Tancredi, who have a 16-month-old daughter.

Just a minute later, two babies were born in Boston, at both Brigham and Women's Hospital and Boston Medical Center.

At Boston Medical, Belanov Ryan William Bercier was born at 12:02 a.m. His mother, Wildaline Morisset, delivered him weighing 7 lbs., 4 oz., 20 inches long.

Across the city at Brigham and Women's, Mia Carolina Espinoza Rodriguez was also born at 12:02 a.m., weighing 9 lbs., 12 oz. Mia is the second child for parents Diana and Christian - they have a 3-year-old son.

Brigham and Women's delivered five babies in the first hour of 2014, according to a hospital spokesperson.
