• 'Statement win' launches Pats to top of AP Pro32 poll

NEW YORK (AP) - The New England Patriots big win over the Texans on Monday launched them to number one on the list of most national sports analysts this week. Check out what the experts had to say below.

Comments on the New England Patriots by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):

Chris Berman (ESPN, 1) - That was quite a message they sent to the league Monday Night.

Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 1) - No doubt they are the team to beat after dismantling Texans.

    Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 1)

Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 1) - Beat down of the Texans last night was impressive as they now have won 20 straight in December.

Bob Glauber (Newsday, 1) - The bigger the stage, the better Tom Brady plays. Another Monday night masterpiece, and the Patriots declare themselves the best team in the game right now.

Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 2) - The Patriots have the worst defense of any division leader. New England ranks 26th in the league, allowing an average of 376 yards per game.

Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 1) - I believe in two things that deliver in December: Santa Claus and the New England Patriots.

Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 1) - How do you spell domination? Outscoring opponents by 15 points per game.

Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 1) - The Patriot machine isn't even at full throttle without Rob Gronkowski and looks very difficult to stop. New England can run the ball, stop the run and of course Brady leads a great passing attack.

John Lynch (Fox Sports, 1) - The Patriots played a near flawless game and are taking form to make a serious run at the Lombardi. A potential Super Bowl preview awaits Sunday night with the 49ers.

Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 1) - Their record isn't as good, but a 42-14 thumping of Houston makes the Patriots the team to beat in the AFC.

Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 1) - Step into Bill Belichick's web, Colin Kaepernick.
