State trooper hurt on Route 128 in Waltham

WALTHAM (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A state trooper was injured while working early Tuesday morning on Route 128 southbound in Waltham.

The canine officer and his dog were in the car in a work zone at the time of the crash. State police say an elderly man was driving the car that rear-ended the trooper's cruiser.

The trooper was treated for minor injuries. The dog is fine.

The elderly man was also taken to the hospital. His injuries do not appear to be serious.

The crash remains under investigation.
