State Sen. Minority Leader Bruce Tarr opts out of special election

(MyFoxBoston.com) – State Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr announced on Thursday that he will not run in the Massachusetts special election for U.S. Senate.

Initially, Tarr, a Republican from Glouceser, said he was thinking about running after Scott Brown said he would not enter the race.

State Rep. Dan Winslow is running on the Republican side, and a Republican businessman from Cohasset has also entered the race.

Democratic congressmen Stephen Lynch and Ed Markey have already kicked off their campaigns, as well.

The special election is June 25. The primary is April 30.
