State rep. wants to raise speed limit on some Mass. highways

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – A state lawmaker is looking to raise the speed limit on several Massachusetts highways.

Rep. Dan Winslow told the State House News Service he wants to up the speed limit to 70 mph on parts of the Mass. Pike and Interstate 91 and 95.

Rep. Winslow said the state's roads and cars are designed to go faster than the 65 mph speed limit currently allowed on parts of the highways, reports the State House News Service.

By increasing the speed limit, Rep. Winslow said it could make the driving laws more enforceable, adding that a majority of other states have 70 mph speed limits.
