BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Massachusetts State Police cleared the scene at UMass Boston just after 12:15 p.m. on Monday, stating that a report of a possible person with a firearm was a false report.
McCormack Hall at UMass Boston was evacuated late Monday morning after campus received the report via phone call.
The university tweeted the alert just before 12 p.m. Monday, hours after an initial unconfirmed report of explosives in Harvard University buildings.
Nearby Boston College High School was placed in lockdown for a short period of time as a result of the report. The lockdown was lifted after school officials received confirmation from UMass Boston that all buildings had been swept and nothing was found.
According to a campus map, McCormack Hall is home to the university's art department, and a performing arts theater.
