State police: Motor vehicle stop leads to gun, drugs seizure

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – A Fall River man pulled over for a motor vehicle violation in South Boston was subsequently arrested for carrying an illegal firearm and cocaine.

According to Mass. State Police, a trooper stopped a man on a motorized scooter on William Day Boulevard in South Boston at about 10 p.m. Sunday.

The driver of the scooter stopped and fled on foot. During the chase, the 28-year-old man discarded a bag.

Once the subject was in custody, troopers found the bag which contained a loaded Ruger .45 caliber handgun with obliterated serial numbers and 56 grams of cocaine. The subject also had a large amount of cash, believed to be proceeds from the sale of narcotics.
