State Police: High risk sex offender arrested in Boston

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Mass. State Police arrested a man on their list of Most Wanted High Risk Sex Offenders in Boston Tuesday.

Umar Shabazz, 54, was arrested at a restaurant on Tremont Street. Shabazz was wanted on three warrants out of Worcester District Court for failing to register as a Level 3 sex offender, refusing to provide a DNA database sample, and possession of a Class B narcotic with intent to distribute.

Investigators arrested Shabazz after learning he was in the Boston area. They conducted surveillance for 9 hours before arresting the 54-year-old around 6 p.m. in Roxbury Crossing.

Shabazz relocated to Worcester after he served a prison sentence on charges that include rape, kidnapping, and armed robbery.
