Starting next year, only E-Z passes will be allowed to pay tolls on Tobin

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – Drivers going over the Tobin will no longer be able to pay cash at the bridge's tolls. The state's transportation secretary, Richard Davey, says only E-Z passes will be allowed to pay tolls starting next year.

Davey said the plan will reduce congestion and operating costs at the tolls and is the first step towards making several other major roads and tolls in the state electronic only.
    
Logan International Airport could be next on the list.

Davey added he understands this will necessitate a widespread shift towards E-Z passes and added E-Z passes will be provided to all AAA members free of charge.
