LEICESTER, Mass. (AP) — A Spencer man is facing charges for allegedly driving drunk with his two children in his car.
Police say an officer on patrol just after midnight Sunday saw a vehicle traveling along the middle of the road directly at him. The officer had to slam on his brakes and pull over to avoid being struck head-on.
The officer pulled over the vehicle for a marked lanes violation and began to speak with the driver.
Police tell The Telegram & Gazette (http://bit.ly/1aHtVoC ) the driver appeared to be drunk and failed several field sobriety tests. He sons, ages 7 and 10, were in the vehicle.
Police say 36-year-old Craig Beckwith has been charged with drunken driving, negligent driving, child endangerment while driving drunk and a marked lanes violation.
