Sox open spring training; Buchholz tweaks hamstring

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – The Red Sox opened Spring Training Tuesday with their third new manager in as many years.

Farrell met with the media Tuesday at JetBlue Park speaking about new beginnings and a new era in Red Sox baseball.

The team missed the post season in 2012 for the third year in a row.

"Certainly we can't wipe away what's taken place," he said. "It's important that we acknowledge it. But as I've talked to guys throughout the off season, what we do going forward is where the focus has to be."

Also on Tuesday, Sox pitcher Clay Buchholz tweaked his right hamstring. Farrell said he is day-to-day and will be evaluated Wednesday.

Boston opens its Grapefruit League season February 23 against Tampa Bay.
