YARMOUTH, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A 23-year-old South Yarmouth woman was arrested Sunday for drug possession, outstanding warrants, and assault on a police officer.
Police were dispatched to Macomber Drive in Yarmouthport after receiving calls regarding three individuals dressed in dark clothing walking around and causing a disturbance.
When officers arrived, they found Lindsay Viera and an unnamed male. A warrant check on the two individuals revealed three outstanding warrants for Viera. She was transported to the Yarmouth Police Department for booking.
During booking, Viera asked if someone could check the cuts that she made with a sharp object along both her wrists.
Before being placed in the cell, police found a pill, identified as Klonopin, in her sneaker, and charged her with possession of a class C substance.
A short time later, personnel from the Yarmouth Fire Department arrived to check Viera's wrists. During the examination, additional illegal drugs were discovered, and Viera allegedly punched an officer in the head and grabbed another's glasses breaking them.
Viera was charged with assault and battery on a police officer and felony destruction of property. She was arraigned Monday morning.
