Sources: Police investigating if Back Bay shooting was payback for July murder

BOSTON — Did one murder lead to another in Boston?

On Monday night, a man was shot dead in Back Bay and police are investigating whether it might be linked to another shooting back in July.

It's been four days since the murder on Mass. Ave. and the road was shut down as police investigated.

Multiple sources tell Boston 25 News investigators are looking at retaliation as a possible motive.

A man in his 30s was found with a gunshot wound to the head after the white Chevy Malibu he was driving slammed into parked cars along Massachusetts Avenue.

He was taken to Boston Medical Center and later pronounced dead.

Police immediately described the shooting as gang-related.

Just hours before the brazen Back Bay shooting, 38-year-old Charles Williams was arraigned in Roxbury District Court for the murder of 32-year-old Dennis Parham. Parham was shot and killed in July at the Lenox Housing Development in Roxbury.

Multiple sources tell Boston 25 the man killed Monday night may have been an associate of Williams.

And now investigators are looking to see if he was targeted as pay-back for supporting Williams after his arrest.

We were unable to confirm this information through official channels.

The name of the shooting victim from Monday night has not been released.

So far, there have been no arrests.
