Social media battle could be behind lack of harmony for Instagram, Twitter

BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) An ongoing battle between Facebook Inc. and Twitter could be the reason behind a lack of harmony between your Instagram and Twitter accounts.

Reuters reports that photo sharing service Instagram has turned off their support for Twitter "cards." This is a service that allows content such as Instagram photos to be embedded and viewed directly in a tweet.

The move comes months after Twitter blocked Instagram from letting users look up and follow the people who they already follow on Twitter under the "find friends" tool on Instagram.

This ongoing fight comes after fellow social media giant Facebook acquired Instagram for nearly $715 million in September. Twitter was also in the running to purchase Instagram, but was outbid by Facebook.
