Snow for the Monday evening commute before midweek thaw

Sunday was the seventh day in a row where Boston did not reach 32 degrees. We have been below freezing for an entire week! This stretch will be the longest since the 13 day stretch of January 16 to 28 back in 2005.

We're finally going to kick this extreme cold out of here as warmer air will build into the region mid-week. However, ahead of that milder air, we've got a wintry mix to deal with first.

Monday will be cold and dry to start, but clouds will increase. By the afternoon and evening, light snow will develop as a weather boundary approaches the region. We'll see a light snow/wintry mix during the evening time frame before precipitation tapers overnight.

Right now this doesn't look like it will amount to much, but the timing will coincide with the evening commute and create a mess out there. Roadways will be slippery, and you should plan extra time on your way home.

Accumulations will only range from one to possibly three inches, less towards the south coast, and the highest totals towards Southwest New Hampshire, but again, it's the timing.

The real warmth heads our way for the middle of the week with spring like temperature readings. However, we'll also see a stretch of unsettled weather.
