Snapchat photo prompts lockdown at Fall River school

FALL RIVER, Mass. — Students and teachers heading to class at a Fall River high school will have to go through metal detectors Tuesday morning.

On Monday, Durfee High School was on lockdown after a student shared a photo of a gun on Snapchat. The picture was captioned "Life at durfee" and police initially feared the photo was taken at or near the school.

Police ultimately learned the 15-year-old who took the picture was not at school. The student was arrested at home.

The officers confiscated the item in the photo, which turned out to be a BB gun.

Students and staff will only be allowed to enter the building Tuesday through the main entrance.

An increased police presence will be at the school and students will have to wear identification badges at all times.

The student who posted the photo is facing multiple charges.
