Last week, the official Twitter account for Texas State Parks shared photos of a Western rat snake, also known as a Texas rat snake, giving the camera his best blue steel.

Don’t worry, these snakes are nonvenomous, so photographer Karlie Gray wasn’t in danger of getting bit when she snapped these pics. What she was in danger of, however, was looking too deeply into the eyes of the chillest snake to ever roam these Texas lands and therefore becoming too chill herself.
