Small plane prepares to crash-land in Illinois


(FOX News) - A plane approaching an Illinois airport is reportedly preparing for a crash landing.

WATCH LIVE: PLANE REPORTING LANDING GEAR PROBLEMS ATTEMPTING EMERGENCY LANDING AT CAHOKIA, ILLINOIS AIRPORT reports that the Learjet with eight passengers is experiencing landing gear problems. Officials at Parks Airport in Cahokia said they are preparing for a crash-landing scenario.

Four ambulances have been requested along with other emergency equipment. The plane reported problem with its landing gear just before noon.

The plane flew by the tower for a visual inspection when it was determined that the front landing gear was copped to the side, making it impossible to make a safe landing.

FAA officials told they had no information as of 12:45 local time.
