Sleeping Duxbury police officer surprises home invasion suspect

DUXBURY (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Police in Duxbury are searching for a male suspect who reportedly attempted to break into a house on Lincoln Street Monday afternoon.

The suspect reportedly kicked in the front door of a residence located at 400 Lincoln Street around 1 p.m.; however, the suspect fled when he realized that someone was inside the home, and that someone was a police officer trying to get some rest after working the overnight shift.

Officials told FOX 25 that the officer was upstairs in bed when the suspect entered the home and rushed up the stairs. The suspect ran straight into the officer's bedroom, but fled when he came face-to-face with the homeowner.

No one was hurt, and nothing was taken from the home.

K-9 units searched the area, but did not find anything.

The attempted home invasion was one of several home break-ins that occurred in the area on Monday afternoon.

It is the second time since May that a Duxbury officer's home has been the target of an attempted break-in.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late 20s. At the time of the attempted home invasion, the suspect sported a goatee and was wearing a black Boston Bruins sweatshirt.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Duxbury Police Department at 781-934-5656.
