Showers to dwindle for Friday morning drive

Heavy rain and strong thunderstorms hit the area ahead of a cold front Thursday. The rain will continue overnight, but dwindle to showers by the morning drive. Friday will be the transition day between the tropical air mass we've had the last few days to the much more autumnal air mass moving in for your weekend plans.

There will be the risk of a shower into the afternoon Friday, but they will be spotty. A thunderstorm not out of the question. High pressure will push that out of here this weekend. I expect much cooler and drier air to be here when you wake up Saturday morning. Puffy cumulus clouds will blend with sunshine Saturday and highs will top out in the 60s. Lows in the suburbs will be in the 30s Sunday morning, but highs will rebound into the 70s in the afternoon.

Overall a great looking weekend coming up, just not as warm as we've had. Tropical Storm Gabrielle will continue to move north far from us. Hurricane Humberto is still far away in the Atlantic. Shiri has an update on the FOX 25 Morning News.
