Shop owner searches for perfect prom dress to fit teen

ABINGTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A teen shopping for her prom dress left a consignment boutique empty-handed and in tears earlier this week.

Kristen Harris, owner of The Designer Diva Boutique on Washington Street in Abington, says a girl came into her store looking for a size 22 prom dress, and was crying in the dressing room when she was unable to find one that fit. The owner said she couldn't get the girl's face out of her head and decided to do something to help.

Harris took to Facebook to look for the girl and to ask for help in getting the right sized dress for her. The response was overwhelming.

"People are calling and texting, Facebooking me and donating dresses," she said.

Harris has finally found the girl and she expects her to be in next week. Harris now has plenty of dresses for the girl to choose from.

"Nobody should be upset like that when they are trying on a dress, especially for your prom," she said. "I don't want anyone to walk in and go through that again."
