Sex offender arrested for committing lewd act on Red Line train

BOSTON — A sex offender has been arrested for allegedly committing a lewd act aboard a Red Line train earlier this week.

Transit police said they were notified Saturday about a video posted on social media by a concerned passenger that showed the man engaged in a lewd and lascivious act that allegedly took place the day before.

An investigation was launched, and police were able to arrest the suspect, who was identified as Anthony Sansone, 52, of Boston.

Sansone, a level 3 sex offender, was arrested and charged with open and gross lewdness.

Transit police thanked the passenger who alerted them to the disturbing video, and Superintendent Richard Sullivan called the woman to personally thank her on behalf of the department.
