Red Line service resumes after disabled train, smoke conditions

BOSTON — Red Line service has resumed after severe delays were reported due to a disabled train at Charles/MGH.

Passengers on-board the train, which was headed south, tell Boston 25 News that smoke was seen coming from one of the cars and billowing outside the train.

It’s unknown what caused the smoke, but luckily no injuries have been reported.

Passengers said they were told to stay on the train while MBTA officials “work on the situation” and thanked them for their cooperation.

They have since been allowed to exit the train.
