Serious crash traps girl for nearly an hour in Fitchburg

FITCHBURG, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) --Two adults and three children were injured in a serious car crash in Fitchburg Friday.

The two-car crash happened on Route 31, at the intersection of Route 2, around 1:30 p.m. Friday, according to the Sentinel and Enterprise. A couple who witnessed the crash told the Enterprise that a minivan driven by a woman with three young passengers was traveling down Route 31 and turned left abruptly onto Route 2. The witnesses also said that a dark SUV with a male driver made a right turn at the same exit and the minivan allegedly cut in front of it. Witness Theresa Miner said the driver of the minivan did not give the man time to react.

Witness Chuck Case said the two adult drivers and two children were transported to the hospital. A 13-year-old girl was in the front passenger seat of the minivan and the cars collided where she was sitting, trapping her. She was bleeding from her wrist, and Case said he gave her his shirt to use as a bandage. She was trapped for almost an hour and apparently screeched with pain when EMTs tried to move her, but they were eventually able to get her into an ambulance.
