READING, Mass. — One person is dead after a multi-vehicle crash closed all but the breakdown lane on Route 95 north Thursday morning.
Preliminary investigation shows that Lynn Dewolfe, 50 of Tyngsborough, was driving her 2008 Saab 93 sedan erratically on 95 north, said police. She crashed into another car, which caused that car to hit a motorcycle.
The man on the motorcycle was thrown from the bike and was later pronounced dead at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington.
Police said Dewolfe continued driving and was reportedly involved in more crashed with other cars between Exits 38 and 42, before she finally stopped.
Police said she was taken into Custody and charged with:
- Operating under the influence of drugs;
- Leaving the scene of a crash that caused personal injury and death;
- Negligent operation of motor vehicle; and
- Marked lanes violation
Shortly before 11:00 a.m., the right lane of the highway opened. The lane closures caused backups for several miles.
