Serious crash in Attleboro closes highway

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A serious crash in Attleboro closed Interstate 95 temporarily Thursday evening.

At about 6 p.m., a car crossed the median on the highway and hit another car traveling southbound head-on. The reason the car crossed the median remains under investigation, police say.

A medical helicopter was called to the scene, but later canceled. The three victims were transported to the hospital by ambulance, one with serious injuries.

The crash caused the highway to be shut down and cars were only able to pass the scene on the grass shoulder of the highway.
