Serial pharmacy robber arrested in Fairhaven

FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Fairhaven man who police say was responsible for a number of pharmacy robberies and attempted robberies in Massachusetts and Rhode Island has been arrested.

The crimes followed a similar pattern, police said. From September through November, an anonymous male caller, later identified as 23-year-old Sean Flynn, would threaten to detonate a bomb in the pharmacy or shoot the pharmacist if oxycodone and other opiate-based painkillers were not placed in the drive-through drawer.

Police say the Fairhaven resident admitted to making 10 of these calls to pharmacies in towns and cities in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and successfully robbed one pharmacy in New Bedford, East Providence, R.I., and Cranston, R.I. each.

East Providence and Fairhaven police detectives executed a search warrant at Flynn's home at 26 Laurel St. in Fairhaven. Investigators found more than 1,600 pills, and close to $8,000 in cash. Flynn has been charged with a number of drug-related charges, as well as charges stemming from the bomb threats. He was held on $100,000 bail.
