• Sen. Elizabeth Warren covers ground in new presidential poll

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – Sen. Elizabeth Warren hasn't even been in public office for a year, but a new Quinnipiac University poll shows of both possible Democratic and Republican presidential candidates, the professor-turned-politician has made the biggest jump in the past five months.

According to the national poll, Warren ranked third among Democrats with 7 percent, behind Hillary Clinton at 61 percent and Vice President Joe Biden at 11 percent, reports The Boston Herald.

While Clinton may be the frontrunner, Warren has covered the most ground, garnering her 7 percentage points since a similar poll Quinnipiac released in May.

Due to the federal government shutdown, Warren could not be reached for comment on the matter, the newspaper reports.

In August, the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute released another poll which had Sen. Warren ranking third among the nation's major political figures behind New Jersey Gov. Christopher Christie and Hillary Clinton.

Warren, a Democrat, beat out incumbent Sen. Scott Brown in Nov. 2012 and was sworn in in January 2013. She is the state's first female senator.
