School bus transporting children involved in Seekonk crash

SEEKONK, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Emergency crews responded to the scene of a serious crash involving a school bus in Seekonk Monday.

Investigators say the crash happened on the right, eastbound lane of Route 6 just after 7:30 a.m.

Officials say the bus was transporting 22 middle school students at the time of the crash. None of the students were injured. They were either picked up by their parents or brought to school on another bus.

The driver of a Mitsubishi involved in the crash had to be extricated from his car. Police identify him as a 24-year-old Seekonk man. He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with unknown injuries.

The eastbound lanes of the road were closed until 11:30 a.m. for investigation.
