Scheduled blasting to take place in Fenway area of Boston

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – Authorities are warning Bostonians, perhaps still jittery after the Boston Marathon bombings, not to be alarmed if they here loud booms in the city this week.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers warns residents of Brookline and Boston that they may hear gunshot-like booms as the agency runs tests of support structures for the Muddy River Restoration Project.

The project manager says the tests were scheduled to start Tuesday, but were delayed until Wednesday due to a delay in delivering some equipment. The bangs will run through May 10.

The project in the city's Fenway section will restore sections of the river that currently run through underground pipes, and install a series of pipes to prevent flooding that has damaged nearby properties.

Police will also stop traffic during the tests.
