Scattered showers, cooler temps Friday

From FOX 25 chief meteorologist Kevin Lemanowicz

Another great spring day in Boston Thursday continued our great stretch of weather. Friday won't be quite as nice, but certainly not bad.

A weak disturbance combined with warm spring sunshine will cause the air to rise and form clouds in the afternoon. There will be a few showers scattered about, but most will stay dry Friday.

High pressure builds in this weekend. It will mean plenty of sunshine all weekend and warm temperatures. The big exception to the warm-up will be the coast. There will be no definitive wind direction with the high over the northeast, so sea breezes will be prominent. A sea breeze sets up when warm air off the land rises. Air over the water stays cooler thanks to the water temperature being in the 40s and 50s. That air rushes toward the vacancy left on land by the rising air. The sea breeze cools coastal areas, so there highs will stay in the 50s. Highs inland will easily be in the 60s Saturday with some 70s by Sunday.

I think Fenway will be dry Friday evening for the game, but bring a jacket. Temperatures will be cool once the sun sets.
