Sandwich schools to be closed through week

SANDWICH, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Schools in Sandwich will remain closed through the week.

Sandwich, as well as much of Cape Cod and Massachusetts' South Shore were particularly hard hit by last week's blizzard.

Most of Sandwich was without power directly after the storm and nearly 3,000 customers were still in the dark Tuesday afternoon.

Sandwich High School was being used as a storm shelter for residents and school officials said a broken water pipe had caused hundreds of thousands of dollars at the Oak Ridge School.

NSTAR said power should be restored by the end of the day Thursday.
