Salisbury fisherman reels in massive catch at mouth of Merrimack River

SALISBURY, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Salisbury man received an important accolade after reeling in a massive striper last week.

The Eagle-Tribune reports Bob Roy caught the 54-pound, 10-ounce fish outside the mouth of the Merrimack River Friday.

After bringing in the fish, Roy's photo was placed on the big fish board at Surfland Bait and Tackle on Plum Island Turnpike. The board honors fisherman who catch a big striped bass weighing 50 pounds or more. Store workers tell the newspaper Roy is the first fisherman to make it on the board since 2010.
