Robber holds knife to victim's throat in Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A man was assaulted by two men after standing up to a knife-wielding robber in Cambridge.

Harvard University officials sent an alert to students saying the man, who is not affiliated with the university, was held up and knife point as he walked along the Cambridge Common on Garden Street just before 8:30 p.m. Monday.

The man said a suspect approached him, put a knife to his throat, and demanded his property. When he resisted, two other men approached and began to punch and kick him.

The man was able to flee without sustaining serious injuries.

Last week, three women fell victim to unarmed robberies in Cambridge. All three women were robbed Sept. 26 on Appleton, Kirkland, and Holden streets.

Harvard students were asked to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police.

Cambridge police are investigating Monday's robbery. Anyone with information is asked to call 617-349-3368. Tips can be made anonymously by visiting www.CambridgePolice.org/Tips.
