QUINCY, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A 48-year-old Registry of Motor Vehicles employee was arrested and charged with possession of child porn after IT workers detected an "irregularity on technology" assigned to him.

RMV officials tell FOX 25 the MassDOT IT Division referred the matter to the Attorney General's office in November. The employee, identified as Andrew Fanguiaire was arrested at the RMV Headquarters in Quincy after an interview with law enforcement Wednesday.

Details of the irregularity were not disclosed.

"We allege that this defendant, a state employee, possessed child pornography and accessed it from his home and at his workplace," said Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley in a statement.

Fanguiaire, a Quincy resident, has been an employee at the RMV's Headquarters since April 2004. He was employed as the program coordinator at the MassDOT RMV's Merit Rating Board at the time of his arrest.

Fanguiaire was arraigned Thursday in Quincy District Court, and pleaded not guilty. A judge set his bail at $5,000, with conditions including that he be monitored via GPS, stay in the state, and have no contact with children under the age of 18. He will be back in court Feb. 3.

Transportation officials say according to procedure, they will request information on the charges and proceed with proper action against Fanguiaire's job status.
