Ride-sharing app exclusively for women coming soon

A Boston businessman wants to bring a women’s only ride-sharing company to Florida and across the country.

The move would come amid growing safety concerns over companies in the area, like Uber and Lyft.

Michael Pelletz, the man behind the company, Chariot for Women, said he's getting overwhelming support from women.

He’s also a former Uber driver and said he’s felt unsafe during a ride. But the big argument here is -- is it discrimination against men?

Pelletz said the design is for safety reasons, and when or if someone goes after him, his legal team will be ready.

“We can help take that fear and anxiety out of women's minds by just having a woman drive for them,” Pelletz said.

Drivers would go through a background check, Pelletz said.

Pelletz said the app will pre-launch in Massachusetts next week and it will be in Jacksonville and across the country in a few months.
