RI man pulled over for DUI had 3 small children in car

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A Richmond man was arrested for DUI on Sunday after Rhode Island State Police troopers observed his vehicle traveling 120 mph with three small children in the car.

Derek L. Greene, 25, is facing several charges, including reckless driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding, for an incident which occurred around 9:10 p.m. on Route 95 South in Richmond.

Troopers assigned to construction detail pulled the vehicle over for speeding and saw three small children between the ages of 2 and 4, seated in the rear of the car.

Greene reportedly smelled of alcohol, and his eyes were bloodshot and watery, and his speech was mumbled.

Greene was taken into custody and returned to the Hope Valley Barracks, where he refused to submit to a breathalyzer test. He was arraigned in Fourth Division District Court in Wakefield, where he was held as a probation violator.

The children were turn over to the custody of their grandmother.
