Reynolds' flick latest Mass. tax credit film to flop

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A new report suggests R.I.P.D. is the latest movie to flop after participating in the Massachusetts film tax credit program.

The Boston Business Journal reports during the film's opening weekend, it raked in less than half of the $26.6 million in tax credits it received from Mass. The film, starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges, made up almost 75-percent of the state's film spending for the year.

The action film surpassed Adam Sandler's comedy "That's My Boy" as the biggest project in the past two years for the tax credit program. Sandler's film also struggled at the box office, receiving $16.6 million in tax credits and grossing just $13.5 million on opening weekend.
