REVERE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Police have released a photo of a man who is suspected of being involved in a carjacking and kidnapping that led to law enforcement issuing a warning to Melrose residents to stay in their homes Friday.

Police say the man, caught on surveillance video, is one of two people who carried out the crimes Friday morning. At around 11:30 a.m., a taxi in the area of Tremont and Waltham streets in Boston picked up the men and drove them to Revere.

The suspects then reportedly stole a car at the Northgate Apartments in Revere. A 14-year-old boy was sitting inside the car, and police said the boy may have been forced to drive. With the boy inside, the suspects then drove to Melrose, fleeing on foot by Main and Green streets. At around 1 p.m., local and state police, including K9 units and a state police helicopter searched for the men, but were unable to locate them.

The second suspect, not pictured in the surveillance photo, is described as a white man who weighs about 190 pounds and was wearing beige pants and a black hat.

Neither suspect threatened or harmed the boy, but they never let him out of the vehicle, police said.

In addition to motor vehicle theft and kidnapping, the men are wanted for taxi fare evasion.

Both suspects should be considered dangerous, but not armed. Anyone who can identify the man in the surveillance photo is asked to contact Revere Police Detective Kenneth Druker at 781-656-1128 or at kbruker@reverepolice.org.
