• Revere man accused of raping teenage girl

REVERE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Revere man already facing child pornography charges is facing additional charges after police allege they found video files depicting his alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl.

Geraldo Desouza, 41, was indicted Aug. 14 and arraigned Tuesday on charges that include aggravated rape of a child, dissemination of material harmful to minors, posing or exhibiting a child in a state of nudity, photographing or recording an unsuspecting person in a state of nudity or partial nudity, and possession of a false Registry of Motor Vehicles document.

Investigators say Desouza was identified during a Mass. State Police investigation into child pornography distribution through a peer-to-peer file-sharing service on the Internet. Boston police executed a search warrant at Desouza's home in February, during which they seized laptops, a digital camera, a camcorder, DVDs, and other devices. Police claim video images depicting children in sexual activity were stored on these devices.

During the investigation, police allege they discovered evidence that suggests Desouza was not just collecting and sharing pornographic images, but was also seeking children to provide him with explicit images of themselves. They claim some of the youngest children he targeted on social media were in the sixth grade.

"Once he gained their trust, he would ask them for photos and videos that were absolutely inappropriate and illegal. All too often, they complied," Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley explained.

Investigators allege Desouza met up with one victim and took her to Copley Place and the zoo. After taking her out, investigators claim Desouza took her to his home and engaged in sexual activity with her. The victim was under the age of 16 and legally unable to consent to sexual activity.

Desouza was arrested on March 29 at his job in downtown Boston. He remained in custody since then.

The 41-year-old was held on $75,000 cash bail after his arraignment Tuesday. If he does post bail, Desouza must stay away from the victims and any other child under the age of 16.
