REVERE, Mass. (AP)
- Efforts to build a casino at the Suffolk Downs horse track are scheduled to continue this week even though voters in East Boston rejected a proposed resort.
Mayor Dan Rizzo of Revere and Suffolk Downs plan to see if an existing casino agreement can be amended to reflect a new plan to build a gambling resort entirely in Revere, which approved a casino.
Suffolk Downs straddles both communities.
Chip Tuttle, the track's chief operating officer, tells The Boston Globe
that Suffolk Downs will outline its plans to the state gambling commission in writing this week.
East Boston casino opponents say efforts to move the proposed casino from the East Boston side of the track property to the Revere side is plainly illegal as laid out in the state's 2011 gambling law.
