Residents of Haverhill neighborhood where shooting occurred sick of the violence

HAVERHILL, Mass. – With two suspects in custody, residents of one Haverhill neighborhood are trying to understand what happened that led to shots being fired and a high speed chase.

It all started around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday on Lincoln Street.

“I was watching wrestling, and all I heard was pow, pow, pow, pow,” James, who lives on the street and asked to only share his first name, said. “People started ducking.”

Surveillance video shows someone shoot out the window of a moving car as it passed the home James was in with his family.

“My two nephews, my niece that just had a baby. How do you they feel,” he said. “The baby that’s in there could’ve got shot and killed.”

The home is still riddled with bullet holes, as is the home next door. Cars on the street were also hit.

After the shots were fired, the two suspects sped off with police in pursuit and got into the highway, traveling into New Hampshire before crashing at Exit 3 off I-93.

Both suspects were eventually taken into custody.

Neighbors said there was another shooting in the same area Monday night, and they’re sick of the violence.
