Rescued puppies give love at meet & greet

DANVERS, Mass. — There was a lot of love, fur and cuddles  at a meet and greet event for puppies rescued from Puerto Rico.

Ira Subaru in Danvers hosted the event for the puupies, which are now at the Cape Ann Animal Aid in Gloucester. The pups were originally found abandoned in Puerto Rico and were flown to Boston after being rehabbed.

"There's still a big pet overpopulation issue on the island," said Sunniva Buck with the Cape Ann Animal Aid.

After being rescued from the streets by the nonprofit All Sato Rescue, the puppies undergo health exams and vaccines.

Buck said there actually aren't a lot of puppies in New England.

"Our pet owners are very educated - most pet owners, the first thing they think of - is spaying and neutering their pets," she said.

The puppies will be up for adoption at the Cape Ann Animal Aid.
