BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) - Republican Sean Bielat has formed an exploratory committee for a potential bid for U.S. Senate.
Earlier Thursday, the Associated Press reported that Bielat was entering the race. Bielat confirmed to Fox 25 Sharman Sacchetti that he was only forming the exploratory committee and had yet to make a decision to enter the race.
Bielat has run twice for Congress in the 4th Congressional District. He lost in 2010 to former Democratic Rep. Barney Frank and last year to Democratic Rep. Joseph Kennedy III.
Former U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan is also expected to announce soon whether he's in the running on the GOP side.
Former Plymouth Republican state committee member Christopher Fava said the announcement could come as soon as Thursday.
Norfolk State Rep. Daniel Winslow and Cohasset businessman Gabriel Gomez have said they are running on the Republican side.
