Pats trade third-string QB Jacoby Brissett

BOSTON — The Patriots dealt third-string quarterback Jacoby Brissett to the Colts Saturday in exchange for wide receiver Phillip Dorsett.

Brissett was chosen in the third round of the 2016 draft and started two games for the Patriots last season, winning a start against the Texans on Thursday Night Football.

Dorsett, a 23-year-old, was selected by Indianapolis in the 2015 draft. He has 51 receptions for 753 yards and three touchdowns in two seasons with the Colts.

ESPN NFL reporter Field Yates Tweeted the deal Saturday afternoon.

Brissett played a big role in the early stages of last season when he took the field for the Pats after then-suspended Tom Brady's backup Jimmy Garoppolo was injured.
